Eligibility: Candidates for the PhD in Sustainability Science are compulsory to have met ALL of the following necessities by the application closing date in order to be considered:
1. Strong interest in sustainability studies;
2. Demonstrated obligation to study and understand global issues;
3. A completed Master’s degree in disciplines interrelated to sustainability studies and a minimum of 2 years of practical field knowledge related to UNU-IAS research themes
OR Two completed Master’s degrees, at least 1 of which must be in corrections related to sustainability studies;
4. A GPA of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale on at least one of the Master’s degrees earned; and
5. English language proficiency
Eligibility Requirements for the scholarships:
  1. Candidates must be from developing countries* who can establish a need for financial assistance.
  2. Candidates who are currently living in Japan under a working visa are NOT qualified for the scholarship.
  3. Candidates who want to chase a second PhD degree at UNU-IAS are not qualified for the scholarship.

• are a state of (or permanently domiciled in) Africa, India or one of the countries of the Commonwealth listed below* AND
•  are classed as an abroad student for fee purposes AND
•  have not already studied outside of your residence country AND
• are not currently studying at a University of Nottingham campus or are not a University of Nottingham graduate AND
•  hold a propose to start a full-time masters degree programme, including MRes, at Nottingham for September 2016 in a part of study within the: Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Faculty of Science, and the Faculty of Social Science.
