Schwarzman Scholars Program at Tsinghua University

Masters Degree
Brief description: Planned to arrange the next generation of international leaders, Schwarzman Scholars is the first scholarship created to respond to the geopolitical landscape of the 21st Century. Enrolling the inaugural class in 2016, the program will provide the world’s best and brightest students the opportunity to build up their leadership abilities and professional networks through a 1 year Master’s Degree at Tsinghua University in Beijing – one of China’s most prestigious universities.
Host Institution(s): Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.

Level/Fields of study: Master’s Degree Programme in one of the following disciplines: Public Policy, Economic and Business, International Studies.
Number of Awards: The class that starts in summer 2017 will contain 125 scholars, and the program will develop to include up to 200 students in coming years. About 45% of the first class will come from the United States, 20% from China, and 35% from the rest of the world.
Target group: Every nationalities
Scholarship value/inclusions: The scholarship covers tuition and fees, room and board, travel to and from Beijing at the beginning and end of the academic year, an in-country study tour, required course books and supplies, lenovo laptop and smartphone, health insurance, and a modest personal stipend.
Eligibility: Undergraduate degree or first degree from an accredited college or university or its equivalent.  Candidates who are currently enrolled in undergraduate degree programs must be on track to successfully complete all degree requirements by 1 August 2017 before orientation begins. There are no prerequisites for a specific field of undergraduate study; all fields are welcome, but it will be important for candidates, regardless of undergraduate major, to articulate how participating in Schwarzman Scholars will help develop their leadership potential within their field.
Age Requirement.
Applicants must be at least 18 but not yet 29 years of age as of 1 August 2017.
English language proficiency. 
Candidates must demonstrate strong English language skills, as all teaching will be conducted in English. If the candidate’s native language is not English, official English proficiency test scores must be submitted with the application. Acceptable test options are:

  • • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL PBT)
  • • Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT)
  • • International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
This condition is waived for candidates who graduated from an undergraduate institution where the primary language of instruction was English for at least 3 years of the candidate’s academic program.

Application instructions: To submit an application, you must complete an online application form and submit required documents by the closing date. Candidates who hold passports from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macao can submit an application online from 23 March to 15 June 2016. Candidates holding a passport from any other country, can submit an application from 15 April to 15 September 2016.

Brief description: La Trobe’s Academic merit Scholarships (AMS) are targeted towards high achieving worldwide students from every countries across all of La Trobe’s undergraduate and postgraduate assignments programs.
Host Institution(s): La Trobe University, Australia.
Level/Field(s) of study: Any full-time undergraduate or postgraduate assignments presented by the University.
Number of Scholarships: Not specified.
Target group: Worldwide students from every country except New Zealand.
Scholarship value/duration: The scholarship is worth between $10,000 and $20,000 and goes towards tuition fees. The scholarships are rewarded across a maximum of two semesters (or 12 months).
If you accept this scholarship, you still need to pay for any differentiation in fees for your first 2 semesters, fees for the rest of your course, and your abroad Student Health Cover. To continue being paid your scholarship into your 2nd semester, you must preserve a C grade regular.
Eligibility: You have to be a citizen of a country other than Australia or New Zealand and be applying to start an undergraduate or postgraduate assignments program. You must also have scored 85% or comparable in your earlier degree/award, and meet our English language and academic entry necessities. You are not qualified if you are opening a Higher Degree by Research, exchange program, Study overseas program, ELICOS and Foundation Studies program, or Diploma course.
Application instructions: You can only submit an application for this scholarship if you have a propose to study in an undergraduate or postgraduate assignments program program at La Trobe University. After you be given your propose, you must complete the scholarship application form and submit it to La Trobe Worldwide by the application closing date.
The general closing date for Semester 2, 2016 is 6 May 2016. There are 3 closing dates for Semester 1, 2017 – 9 September 2016, 11 November  2016 and 6 January 2017.
