Brief description: The Japan charity for UNU (JFUNU) Scholarship is presented
for excellent candidates from developing countries who can display a need for
financial assistance and who are decided admissions to the PhD Programme
in Sustainability Science at United Nations University Institute for the highly
developed Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS).

Target group: Citizens of developing countries scheduled

Scholarship value/duration: The scholarship offers a monthly payment
of 150,000 JPY for living expenses for a maximum of 3 years. Travel costs
to and from Japan, visa management fees, and health/accident insurance expenses
must be roofed by the student. The tuition fees are fully waived for the
scholarship recipients.
Eligibility: Candidates for the PhD in Sustainability Science are requisite
to have met ALL of the following requirements by the application closing
date in order to be considered:
1. Strong curiosity in
sustainability studies;
2. Verified commitment to
study and understand global issues;
3. A completed Master’s
degree in disciplines related to sustainability studies and a minimum of 24 months
of practical field skill related to UNU-IAS make inquiries themes
OR Two completed
Master’s degrees, at least one of which must be in disciplines related to
sustainability studies;
4. A GPA of 3.5 or above on
a 4.0 scale on as a minimum one of the Master’s degrees earned; and
5. English language skill
