DAAD Scholarships in Germany for Development-Related Postgraduate Courses

Brief description: The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) presents scholarships in Germany for worldwide students for a range of postgraduate courses at German Universities which intend at providing academically educated young professionals from developing countries with further specialized studies.
Host Institution(s): German Universities present development-related postgraduate courses

Number of Scholarships: Limited
Target group: Young professionals from developing countries
Scholarship value/inclusions/duration: The scholarships consist of monthly payments of 750 euros for graduates or 1,000 euros for doctoral candidates; payments towards health, accident and personal accountability insurance cover; and travel allowance, unless these operating expense are covered by the home country or another resource of funding.
The scholarship duration is 12 to 24 months (depending on the particular institution)
Eligibility: • Works either for a public authority or a state or private company in a developing country and, as such, is occupied in the planning and execution of directives and projects with emphasis on development policies having a bearing on technological, economic or social areas.
• Holds a Bachelor’s degree (normally four years) in a connected subject.
• Has completed an academic degree with far above average results (upper third) and at least two years of related professional experience.
• His/her academic degrees should normally not be more than six years old.
 For courses in German: DSH 2 or TestDaF 4; at time of application German skills at completed level A2 are required. In addition, German language courses at level A2 or B1 are highly recommended.

 For courses in English: IELTS (Band 6) certifi cate or TOEFL (minimum score: 550 paper based, 213 computer based, 80 internet based)
Application instructions: Applications must be made directly to the respective course with the exception of for Cameroon where applications must be submitted via the German Embassy. Please refer to the respective course websites for the application procedure, the application closing date, and the documents to be submitted. Closing date varies depending on the course but falls around August-October 2016.

Eligibility: The candidate must meet the eligibility criteria in order to be considered for this scholarship. The candidate should:
•  Not have the Dutch or an EU/EEA nationality;
•  Hold a non-Dutch secondary school diploma;
• Have been admitted to a Worldwide Master’s programme within one of the Graduate Schools mentioned above, the Bachelor’s programme in Economics and Business Economics or to University College Utrecht;
•  Hold a applicable Bachelor’s degree (for a Master’s programme) or secondary school diploma (for a Bachelor’s programme), or a comparable thereof;
•  Be capable to comply with the conditions to obtain a Dutch visa;
Failure to meet one or more of these criteria automatically means the student is not suitable for this scholarship.

Application instructions: It is not probable to submit an application directly for the scholarship but when you submit an application for admission to the programme of your choice, you can indicate whether you wish to be considered for this scholarship. The assortment committees will review the application files for probable nominees.
Prospective Bachelor’s students in Economics and Business Economics who wish to be considered for the scholarship should submit an application for admission before 1 April. Brief description: Maastricht University High prospective scholarships are made available by the Maastricht University Scholarship Fund in order to encourage brilliant students from outside the EU/EEA to follow a Master’s programme at Maastricht University.

Field of study: Every UM master’s programme or graduate programme for professionals proposeed at the University except for programmes under the School of Business and Economics.

Scholarship value/inclusions: The scholarship covers living expenses (€10,500), insurance (€ 520), visa costs (€ 304), and tuition fee (€ 13.000 or € 17.500).
The High Potential scholarship is decoration for the duration of the Master’s programme with a maximum of 12 months. In case of a 2 year Master’s programme the Scholarship Committee will honor the scholarship for a maximum of 24 months.
Eligibility: You must be permissible for a UM master’s programme or graduate programme for professionals and may be no older than 35 years at the start of the academic year.
You must have obtained outstanding results in their previous studies. This must be shown in the application file by including, for example, grade lists or reference letters. In case of comparable qualification, preference will be given to applications which show that the candidate is among the top 5%.
You must come from a country outside the EU/EEA and meet the necessities for obtaining an entry visa and residence permit for the Netherlands.
