Selection criteria vary slightly depending on the subject area and whether candidates submit an application for a taught or research degree. Generally, applications are assessed against the following criteria:
-An outstanding academic record is important: A high first class honors degree or its equivalent (a GPA score of at least 3.7 if the mark is out of 4, noting that most successful applicants attain a score higher than 3.7) or an outstanding academic record at Master’s level is necessary (noting that an outstanding Master’s degree can compensate for a moderate first degree performance). Other indicators of high academic achievement may include individual marks on student transcripts; evidence of previous university prizes or awards; information on your overall position within your cohort; and publications (if applicable).
-Aptitude for the projected course of study: This may be assessed by reviewing academic references, the research proposal, demonstrated evidence of aptitude for research, and the likelihood the scholar will contribute significantly to their field of study.
-Student motivation: This is assessed through evidence of the candidate commitment to their proposed course, evaluated by the personal statement and referees’ reports.

Selection Criteria: Applicants will be prioritized according to specific criteria. The selection of candidates is done according to the following criteria:
-The applicant is either a bachelor, master’s or PhD student.
-The applicant is not already enrolled at a higher education institution in Denmark.
-The applicant is nominated by a lecturer who teaches Danish abroad. If you would like to be recommended by a lecturer, be sure to contact the lecturer before you apply. The recommendation letter should be sent together with the application, or as otherwise specified by the course organizer.
-The applicant studies Danish or Scandinavian languages and literature.

How to Apply: Applicants from Group 1 and 3 should apply directly to the course organizer. Please be aware of the following before applying:
-Important! Students can apply to one course only. You will however be able to select a second choice, in case you cannot be placed in the course that you have picked as your first choice. Students who apply several places will be not be able to select the course themselves, but will be placed by the Agency to the best of its judgement.
-Students will not be awarded ECTS-points for attending a summer language course. These language courses are not ECTS awarding courses.
Course organizers reserve the right to consider the distribution of nationalities in the final selection of candidates for the summer language courses. Previous experience has shown that over representation of any nationality on the individual course is not desirable.

In some specialties the training is also delivered in English (about 20 specialties) and French (general medicine, pharmacy). Applicants choosing the training in English or French must have an interview to check their language proficiency upon arrival. The results of worldwide language tests (e.g., IELTS, TOEFL, CAE, DALF, TCF etc.) are not required. Irrespective of medium of instruction, a Russian language course is an essential and imperative part of the curriculum. Knowledge of Russian language is important for worldwide students in Russia for everyday life, communication in and outside the university, and for comprehensive use of the millions of pieces of educational literature obtainable throughout the whole period of study.

Application Deadline: Applications for study on a foundation course are accepted from 1st March until 1st October and for major courses (first and following years) are received from 1st March until 15th August of every year for passport-holders of visa-free countries and from 1st March until 15th July for passport holders of countries requiring a visa.
