Brief description: The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers scholarships in Germany for worldwide students for a range of postgraduate courses at German Universities which aim at given that academically educated young professionals from developing countries with further expert studies.

Scholarship value/inclusions/duration: The scholarships consist of monthly payments of 750 euros for graduates or 1,000 euros for doctoral applicants; payments towards health, accident and personal liability insurance cover; and travel allowance, unless these operating cost are enclosed by the home country or another source of funding.
The scholarship duration is 12 to 24 months (depending on the particular institution)
Eligibility: • Works either for a public authority or a state or personal company in a developing country and, as such, is engaged in the planning and implementation of directives and projects with emphasis on development policies having a bearing on technological, economic or social areas.
• Holds a Bachelor’s degree (normally 4 years) in a related subject.
• Has completed an academic degree with far above average results (upper third) and at least 2 years of related professional experience.
• His/her academic degrees should normally not be more than 6 years old.

• For courses in German: DSH 2 or TestDaF 4; at time of application German talents at completed level A2 are required. In addition, German language courses at level A2 or B1 are highly recommended.
• For courses in English: IELTS (Band 6) certifi cate or TOEFL (minimum score: 550 paper based, 213 computer based, 80 internet based)
Application instructions: Applications must be made directly to the particular course except for Cameroon where applications must be submitted via the German Embassy. Please refer to the respective course websites for the application method, the application closing date, and the documents to be submitted. Closing date varies depending on the course but falls around August-October 2016.

Brief description: Thanks to bighearted funding from the Society of the Sacred Heart, 3 fully-funded, full-time PhD studentships are presented for new abroad students, starting 1 October 2017. The studentships are for the support of 3 applicants with a strong academic record and the potential for academic brilliance at doctoral level.

Preference will be specified to applicants from lower or middle income countries. Successful applicants will demonstrate a commitment to contributing to their home community through their planned research project or area of study, and through their future career plans.

Scholarship Description: The Clarendon Fund proposes around 140 full scholarships each year to academically outstanding graduate students from all around the world. Clarendon Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic brilliance and potential across all degree-bearing subjects at graduate level at the University of Oxford. The scholarships cover tuition and college fees as well as a generous grant for living expenses, and all graduate candidates who submit an application for study at the University by the January closing date, in their respective year of entry, will be automatically measured for this prestigious scholarship funding.

Eligibility: All candidates for graduate study at the University of Oxford are qualified. Clarendon scholars come from all continents in the world: from the USA to Australia, Venezuela to Vietnam and from Norway to Nigeria! All degree-bearing courses at graduate level are qualified. This encompasses all full-time and part-time master’s and all DPhil courses. Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma courses are not qualified for this scholarship. Clarendon supports scholars from across the University, with no preference for any particular subject area. Applicants applying to start a new graduate course at Oxford are suitable. This includes students who are currently studying for a Master’s degree at Oxford but who will be re-applying for a DPhil (you would be suitable for funding for the DPhil). If you hold a deferred suggest to starting in 2016-17, you will be considered for this scholarship automatically. Students who will continue to study for the same degree at Oxford in the next year are not qualified for this scholarship.

Duration of award(s): Clarendon Scholarships are presented for the full period that you are liable to pay tuition fees to the University, which is usually the same as the length of your course. The fee liability page of the Fees and Funding website explains this in full detail, and also provides information about charges that may be applied after the standard period of fee liability has been reached and which are not enclosed by the Clarendon Fund.
What does it cover? All Clarendon Scholarships cover tuition and college fees in full. Scholars on a full-time course receive a bighearted annual grant for living costs, which is normally sufficient to cover the living costs of a single student living in Oxford. In 2015-16 this is £14,057 (GBP). Scholars on a part-time course accept a study support funding to help cover their non-fee costs.


Selection Criteria: Clarendon Scholarships are awarded on the basis of outstanding academic merit and potential to graduate students from all around the world. Selection criteria vary slightly depending on the subject area and whether candidates submit an application for a taught or research degree. Generally, applications are assessed against the following criteria:
-An outstanding academic record is important: A high first class honors degree or its equivalent (a GPA score of at least 3.7 if the mark is out of 4, noting that most successful applicants attain a score higher than 3.7) or an outstanding academic record at Master’s level is necessary (noting that an outstanding Master’s degree can compensate for a moderate first degree performance). Other indicators of high academic achievement may include individual marks on student transcripts; evidence of previous university prizes or awards; information on your overall position within your cohort; and publications (if applicable).
-Aptitude for the projected course of study: This may be assessed by reviewing academic references, the research proposal, demonstrated evidence of aptitude for research, and the likelihood the scholar will contribute significantly to their field of study.
-Student motivation: This is assessed through evidence of the candidate commitment to their proposed course, evaluated by the personal statement and referees’ reports.
