Brief description: Every year, the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholarship up to 15 doctoral awards to Canadian and foreign doctoral applicants pursuing analysis related to humanities and social sciences.

Level/Fields of study: PhD Analysis Programme related to Humanities and social sciences, specially one or more of the following areas: Canada in the World, Responsible Citizenship, Human Rights and Dignityand People and their Natural Environment.

Scholarship value/inclusions/duration: The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation scholarships offer $40,000 each year for 3 years, $20,000 each year for 3 years (as analysis and travel allowance) and an opportunity for a 4th year: writing or distribution scholarship, between other profits. Eligibility:
  • • Full-time 1st or 2nd year students registered (or in the procedure of registering) in a doctoral scholarship in the humanities and social sciences; and
  • • Canadian citizens or local residents registered whole-time in a doctoral scholarship in Canada, or Canadian citizens registered whole-time in a doctoral scholarship outdoor of Canada. Up to 1 scholarship in 4 each given year may be a overseas national registered whole-time in a doctoral scholarship at a Canadian organization. This applies in particular to students from emerging nations.
Application instructions: Applicants must be selected by the Canadian or foreign organization where they demand to study or are currently studying.  Internal university closing date varies but is around Fall of 2017.  The Foundation closing date for receiving files from universities is before 9 December 2017.
The 2018 doctoral scholarship opens on 1 September 2017.

Scholarship value/inclusions: CSLA grantees achieve full funding for their degree studies, including accommodation and travel to the CSLA summer school prior to their studies, return travel to their host university, a living remuneration for the duration of their studies, tuition fees and health insurance, a small fund for professional development, and travel to grantee conferences.
Eligibility: Candidates must meet the following criteria:
  • • be a citizen of an appropriate country
  • • demonstrate maturity, flexibility, and civil society leadership potential
  • • have outstanding academic records and an earned bachelor’s degree before applying
  • • have proficiency in the language of instruction (English, German, or French) at a level compulsory for admission by partner universities, as evidenced by standardized language test scores
  • • be capable to participate in an intensive academic writing program in July or August 2017 and start their degree program in August or September 2017
  • • be capable to receive and maintain a visa or study permit as requisite by the host country
  • • demonstrate a clear commitment to return to their home country or region to continue supporting open society development
Application instructions: Attracted candidates must complete and submit an online or paper CSLA application in English to be measured for CSLA support. Please note that some universities necessitate a separate application for graduate study at that institution. In these cases, Open Society will notify applicants and assist with the university application process. Closing date is 15 September 2016.

Brief description: Wagner announces a call for applications for the African Women Public Service Scholarship, a scholarship program made probable by a contribution from the Oprah Winfrey Foundation, which expands the opportunity for African women to systematize for public service in their home countries.
