Brief description: The Leiden University Excellence Scholarship Programme (LExS) is release to excellent Non-EU/EEA students enrolling in a master’s degree programme at Leiden University starting February 2017 or September 2017.
Host Institution(s): Leiden University, The Netherlands.
Level/Field of study: All MA, MSc and LL.M programmes as mentioned on the website Master’s programmes in Leiden. Please note that some programmes have a begin date in September only
Number of Awards: The number and type of award of the scholarship depends on the budget presented for every Faculty department.
Target group: Non-EU/EEA global students
Scholarship value/duration: The Leiden University Excellence Scholarship programme has three awards:
•  € 10.000 of the tuition fee
•  € 15.000 of the tuition fee
• Total tuition fee minus the statutory tuition fee
The LExS is only valid for the period the student is registered at Leiden University as a full time student within the time frame of the study programme.
Eligibility: • Non-EU/EEA students enrolling in a Leiden University master’s degree programme starting February 2017 or September 2017
• In his or her prior academic education abroad, the candidate must have achieved outstanding study results which are related for the programme for which the student desires to enrol. As an indication, the student will be among the top 10% for the relevant programme followed abroad.
• The candidate will hold a non-EU/EEA passport and will not be suitable for support under the Dutch system of study grants and loans.
• Scholarships will not be awarded to candidates who have already obtained a Leiden University master’s degree with the exception of students applying for a Master programme for which a specified previous Master programme or work experience is mandatory (the LLM advanced masters qualify as such).
• Students who are approved a Leiden Excellence Scholarship must comply with and confirm in writing their agreement with the Rules and Regulations attached to the scholarship prior to the granting of the scholarship.
Application instructions: You must first submit an application for admissions to Leiden University online. In your application, you must specify clearly that you would like to submit an application for the LExS scholarship and upload your letter of motivation for the LExS scholarship on the scholarship page. For programmes starting in February 2017, the closing date is 1 October 2016. For all programmes starting in September 2017, the closing date is 1 February 2017 (except for Law programmes which has the closing date of 1 March 2017).

Brief description: Every year, the Swiss Confederation honors Government Brilliance Scholarships to encourage global exchange and research cooperation between Switzerland and over 180 other countries.
The research scholarship is vacant to post-graduate researchers in any discipline (who hold a master’s degree as a minimum) who are planning to come to Switzerland to pursue research or further studies at doctoral or post-doctoral level.
Host Institution(s): One of the 10 Swiss cantonal universities, the 2 Swiss federal institutes of technology or public teaching and research institutes.

Brief description: The Netherlands Scholarship Programmes (NFP) promotes ability building within organisations in 51 countries by providing scholarships for teaching and education for professionals. The NFP proposes scholarships for experienced Master studies, PhD studies, or short courses presented at participating Dutch Universities.
Host Institution(s): Dutch Universities that offer NFP skilled programmes/courses.
Level/Field(s) of study: NFP-qualified Masters Programme, PhD programmes or Short Courses. Find a course/programme at this link then contact the Dutch higher education institution that proposes that course to get out whether it is NFP-skilled.
Target group: The NFP is intended for professionals who are nationals of and work and live in one of the 51 NFP countries. The chances of obtaining an NFP fellowship increase if you live and work in Sub-Saharan Africa and/or if you are a woman.
Scholarship value/inclusions: An NFP scholarship is proposed to supplement the salary that the fellow should continue to receive during the study period. The allowance is a contribution towards the costs of living, the costs of tuition fees, visas, travel, insurance and thesis research. If applicable, the scholarship holder is projected to cover the difference between the actual costs and the amount of the personal NFP allowances.
Eligibility: To be qualified you:
• must be a national of, and working and living in one of the countries on the NFP country list;
• must have an employer’s statement that complies with the format EP-Nuffic has provided. All information must be provided and all commitments that are included in the format must be endorsed in the statement;
• must not be employed by an organisation that has its own means of staff-development. Organisations that are measured to have their own means for staff development are for example:
– multinational corporations (e.g. Shell, Unilever, Microsoft),
– large national and/or a large commercial organisations,
– bilateral donor organisations (e.g. USAID, DFID, Danida, Sida, Dutch ministry of Foreign affairs, FinAid, AusAid, ADC, SwissAid),
– multilateral donor organisations, (e.g. a UN organisation, the World Bank, the IMF, Asian Development Bank, African Development Bank, IADB),
– Global NGO’s (e.g. Oxfam, Plan, Care);
• must have an official and valid passport;
• must not receive more than one scholarship for courses that take place at the same time;
• must have a government statement that meets the necessities of the country in which the employer is established (if applicable).

Brief description: The Radboud Scholarship Programme proposes a preferred number of brilliant potential non-EEA students the prospect to be given a scholarship to pursue a complete English-taught Master’s degree programme at Radboud University.

Number of Scholarships: About 30 every year
Target group: Non-EU/EEA global Students
Scholarship value/inclusions/duration: The scholarship is not an amount of money that you will be given in your bank account, but consists of a partial tuition waiver. The tuition fee will be waived to the level of an EEA student. For example: a grant holder in 2015/2016 will pay a tuition fee of only € 1,951, instead of € 9,685 or € 10,633.
In addition, the Radboud Scholarship also covers costs such as those for visa, residence permit, health insurance and liability insurance. This amounts to about € 700.
In the case of a 2-year programme: to succeed for the award during the 2nd year, you need to have passed all courses in the 1st year.
Eligibility: You will only be qualified to acquire a Radboud Scholarship if you:
  1. hold a non-EU/EEA passport
  2. are not suitable for the lower EEA tuition fee for other reasons
  3. you have (will acquire) a Bachelor’s degree achieved outside the Netherlands and have no degrees achieved in the Netherlands
  4. have been fully admitted to the English-taught Master’s degree programme starting 1 September 2017 as stated in the formal letter of admission
  5. are capable to comply with the conditions for obtaining a visa for the Netherlands
  6. are enrolled at Radboud University as a full-time student for the academic year and Master’s degree programme for which the scholarship will be awarded.
Application instructions: The application for  admission and the application for the scholarship is fully integrated, there is no separate procedure for the scholarship. However, admission to the programme does not imply selection for the scholarship. You apply for a Radboud Scholarship by representing on your Master’s application form for admission that you wish to apply for a Radboud Scholarship.
You must have finalized your request for admission via the online application system OSIRIS Incoming Students before 1 April 2017.  For students that like to study at the Faculty of Medical Sciences (Master’s programme in Biomedical Sciences or Molecular Mechanisms of Disease), the closing date is 1 March 2017.

Eligibility: Candidates must meet the following criteria:
  • • be a citizen of an appropriate country
  • • demonstrate maturity, flexibility, and civil society leadership potential
  • • have outstanding academic records and an earned bachelor’s degree before applying
  • • have proficiency in the language of instruction (English, German, or French) at a level compulsory for admission by partner universities, as evidenced by standardized language test scores
  • • be capable to participate in an intensive academic writing program in July or August 2017 and start their degree program in August or September 2017
  • • be capable to receive and maintain a visa or study permit as requisite by the host country
  • • demonstrate a clear commitment to return to their home country or region to continue supporting open society development
