Brief description: The KAAD scholarships are addressed to post-graduates and to academics who already gained professional experience and who are attracted in postgraduate studies (or research stays) in Germany.

Fields of study: There is no definite subject-preference. However, the choice board has regularly specified predilection to courses and subjects that they felt to be of consequence for the home country of the candidate.

Target group: Citizens of selected developing or emerging countries in Africa, Asia, the Middle East or Latin America. There is a favorite for Catholic applicant.

Eligibility: For the scholarship programme 1 of KAAD you can submit an application if you:
• come from a developing or rising country in Africa, Asia, the Middle East or Latin America
• have a university degree and professional skills from your home country
• want to acquire a master’s degree or a PhD at a German university or do a post-doctoral research project (2-6 months for reputable university lecturers) at a German university
• are a Catholic Christian (or general belong to a Christian denomination). Applicants from other religions can submit an application if they are planned by Catholic colleagues and can verify their commitment to interreligious dialogue.
• possess German language skills before opening the studies (KAAD can offer a language course of max. 6 months in Germany).
The common regulation is that candidates for Master-scholarships should be of the maximum age of 30, while candidates for PhD-scholarships should not be older than 35.

Application instructions: KAAD is running with focus- and partner countries in your province. There are so-called Partner Committees in these countries and applications are channelled through them. Schwarzman Scholars Program at Tsinghua University

Brief description: Planned to arrange the next generation of international leaders, Schwarzman Scholars is the first scholarship created to respond to the geopolitical landscape of the 21st Century. Enrolling the inaugural class in 2016, the program will provide the world’s best and brightest students the opportunity to build up their leadership abilities and professional networks through a 1 year Master’s Degree at Tsinghua University in Beijing – one of China’s most prestigious universities.
Host Institution(s): Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.

Level/Fields of study: Master’s Degree Programme in one of the following disciplines: Public Policy, Economic and Business, International Studies.
Number of Awards: The class that starts in summer 2017 will contain 125 scholars, and the program will develop to include up to 200 students in coming years. About 45% of the first class will come from the United States, 20% from China, and 35% from the rest of the world.
Target group: Every nationalities
Scholarship value/inclusions: The scholarship covers tuition and fees, room and board, travel to and from Beijing at the beginning and end of the academic year, an in-country study tour, required course books and supplies, lenovo laptop and smartphone, health insurance, and a modest personal stipend.
Eligibility: Undergraduate degree or first degree from an accredited college or university or its equivalent.  Candidates who are currently enrolled in undergraduate degree programs must be on track to successfully complete all degree requirements by 1 August 2017 before orientation begins. There are no prerequisites for a specific field of undergraduate study; all fields are welcome, but it will be important for candidates, regardless of undergraduate major, to articulate how participating in Schwarzman Scholars will help develop their leadership potential within their field.
Age Requirement.
Applicants must be at least 18 but not yet 29 years of age as of 1 August 2017.
English language proficiency. 
Candidates must demonstrate strong English language skills, as all teaching will be conducted in English. If the candidate’s native language is not English, official English proficiency test scores must be submitted with the application. Acceptable test options are:

  • • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL PBT)
  • • Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT)
  • • International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
This condition is waived for candidates who graduated from an undergraduate institution where the primary language of instruction was English for at least 3 years of the candidate’s academic program.

Brief description: The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) presents scholarships in Germany for worldwide students for a range of postgraduate courses at German Universities which intend at providing academically educated young professionals from developing countries with further specialized studies.

Target group: Young professionals from developing countries
Scholarship value/inclusions/duration: The scholarships consist of monthly payments of 750 euros for graduates or 1,000 euros for doctoral candidates; payments towards health, accident and personal accountability insurance cover; and travel allowance, unless these operating expense are covered by the home country or another resource of funding.
The scholarship duration is 12 to 24 months (depending on the particular institution)
Eligibility: • Works either for a public authority or a state or private company in a developing country and, as such, is occupied in the planning and execution of directives and projects with emphasis on development policies having a bearing on technological, economic or social areas.
• Holds a Bachelor’s degree (normally four years) in a connected subject.
• Has completed an academic degree with far above average results (upper third) and at least two years of related professional experience.
• His/her academic degrees should normally not be more than six years old.
 For courses in German: DSH 2 or TestDaF 4; at time of application German skills at completed level A2 are required. In addition, German language courses at level A2 or B1 are highly recommended.

 For courses in English: IELTS (Band 6) certifi cate or TOEFL (minimum score: 550 paper based, 213 computer based, 80 internet based)
Application instructions: Applications must be made directly to the respective course with the exception of for Cameroon where applications must be submitted via the German Embassy. Please refer to the respective course websites for the application procedure, the application closing date, and the documents to be submitted. Closing date varies depending on the course but falls around August-October 2016.

•  Hold a applicable Bachelor’s degree (for a Master’s programme) or secondary school diploma (for a Bachelor’s programme), or a comparable thereof;
•  Be capable to comply with the conditions to obtain a Dutch visa;
Failure to meet one or more of these criteria automatically means the student is not suitable for this scholarship.
